A Household Built on the Idea That Good Days Are Worth Keeping

Ho Cheung came together because its founders believed that older adults in Hong Kong deserved somewhere that felt genuinely like home — not a facility, not a waiting room, but a proper place to live.

How Ho Cheung Began

Ho Cheung opened on Tai Hang Road after several years of quiet preparation. The people behind it had spent time watching close family members navigate later life in environments that were clean and efficient but cold — places where the radio played in an empty corridor and the meals, though nutritious, tasted like nobody had chosen them with care.

They wanted something different. They wanted the smell of ginger and spring onion drifting from a kitchen that was actually cooking. They wanted chairs arranged around a table that people chose to sit at, not ones they were assigned to. They wanted a courtyard where someone could spend an unhurried morning.

The Tai Hang location was chosen with care — a neighbourhood that still has its own character, within walking distance of small markets and teahouses, far enough from the main roads to feel settled. Ho Cheung has been taking residents since the building was ready and has grown steadily through word of mouth.

What We Are Here to Do

Our work is straightforward: we look after the practical side of daily life so that residents can put their attention toward the parts that matter to them. That means proper meals at proper times, a garden that is tended and available, and a room that is clean and comfortable without feeling institutional.

We do not offer medical services — that is not what Ho Cheung is. What we offer is companionable, well-run daily life for older adults who are largely independent but who value the support, the company and the structure that a good residence brings.

"A household is not a building. It is the habit of eating together, the sound of familiar voices, the door that is always open."

— Ho Cheung founding principle

The People at Ho Cheung

A small, steady team who have chosen this work because they find meaning in it — not staff rotating through shifts, but people who know each resident by name.

How We Hold Ourselves to Account

Good intentions are a start; consistent practice is what matters. These are the standards we apply daily.

Resident Feedback Reviews

Every resident and their family is invited to a short review conversation each quarter. We keep notes and follow up on anything raised — including small things.

Food Hygiene Standards

Our kitchen operates under Hong Kong's Food and Environmental Hygiene Department guidelines. Staff complete regular food safety training and the kitchen is inspected as required.

Data Privacy

Resident and family information is handled in line with Hong Kong's Personal Data (Privacy) Ordinance. We keep only what is needed and share nothing without permission.

Daily Housekeeping Checks

Room cleanliness is maintained daily for Full Comfort residents. Common areas are attended to throughout the day, and a formal check is completed each evening before close.

Safe Outdoor Spaces

Gardens and courtyards are assessed for safe walking surfaces, lighting and shade. Any maintenance issues are addressed promptly and paths are kept clear at all times.

Transparent Agreements

Every resident and family receives a clear written arrangement before moving in — covering services, fees, and how changes can be made. Nothing is left to verbal understandings alone.

A Different Kind of Senior Residence in Hong Kong

Senior living in Hong Kong has long been associated with either the family home — where an elder stays with children or grandchildren in often tight quarters — or with care homes that operate more like medical facilities than places to live. Ho Cheung occupies a quieter space between those two options: a proper residential community for older adults who are independent, social and particular about how their days feel.

Our Tai Hang location gives residents access to the kind of Hong Kong neighbourhood life that older generations know well — local wet markets a short walk away, a teahouse on the corner, the sounds of a city that still has a human pace in this district.

The three offerings at Ho Cheung reflect how people actually decide to live here. Some begin with shared dining — wanting the social dimension and the good food without committing to a full change of address. Others arrive directly for the Full Comfort package, particularly when a family has decided that a settled, well-managed environment makes more sense than managing everything at home.

What holds all three together is the same quality of attention: people who know your name, a building that is properly maintained, and a daily rhythm that is human rather than institutional. That is what Ho Cheung is for.

We Would Be Glad to Show You Around
